Closed Home Conditions
to ensure your radon test produces accurate results, the home must be under closed conditions before and during the test
how to maintain closed conditions:
Keep it sealed. Close all windows throughout the home and keep exterior doors shut, except for brief entry or exit.

Limit air movement. Avoid running ceiling fans or portable fans near the device

Skip ventilation systems. Whole-house fans, window fans, and fireplaces should stay off during testing. If a wood stove or fireplace is your only heat source, it can be used as normal.

Run HVAC as usual. Your central heating and cooling systems can operate normally. If using a window air conditioner, switch it to recirculate mode rather than pulling in outdoor air.

Leave the monitor alone. Don’t move, unplug, or cover the testing unit — and please don’t adjust its placement once the test begins.
By following these steps, you’ll help ensure your results accurately represent the radon levels in your home. Stable conditions mean dependable data. . . and that’s what keeps your test results trustworthy.
Noninterference controls: Our continuous radon monitors use a motion sensor to detect movement of the monitor during the measurement. It also records hourly temperature, humidity, and atmospheric pressure data to detect if closed-building conditions may have been broken during the measurement.
